One of the best things to do in Cancun is to visit Isla Contoy, the last untouched island in the area. Only a certain number of visitors are allowed on the island each day, so you won’t find any crowds here. There are no homes, businesses, or inhabitants on the island, and it is a refuge for about 173 tropical bird species. It offers some of the best beaches in the Riviera Maya. You won’t find any waves or seaweed here, just crystal-clear blue waters.
You will be picked up at your hotel or Airbnb and welcomed to our check-in area with a light continental breakfast. Before visiting Isla Contoy and Isla Mujeres, you’ll enjoy a fantastic boat ride on the Mexican Caribbean’s turquoise waters, complete with drinks on board. When we arrive at Ixlache Reef, part of the Mesoamerican Reef system, the second largest barrier reef system in the world, you will be able to go snorkelling.
Then we’ll head to Isla Contoy where you will take a guided tour to see the view from the highest point on the island, the perfect spot to take vacation photos. Then we’ll walk to a cenote where you will see many tropical birds. Next, lunch will be served – a traditional Mayan dish – Tikin Xic fish. Afterward, you will have free time to enjoy the island and its breathtaking beaches.
On the way back to Cancun we’ll make a stop at Isla Mujeres (Island of Women) where you can either explore the downtown area or if you prefer, visit world-renowned Playa Norte (North Beach), with its calm, shallow waters.
